What is OSHA?
OSHA is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and was established in 1970 by the United States Congress. The purpose of OSHA is to assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance.
When You Need to Comply with OSHA Regulations
OSHA has created a multitude of rules and regulations to protect workers, many that include exposure to hazardous materials or mitigating risk factors on the job. The Environmental Clean-Up and Industrial Hygiene industries inherently introduce potentially risky situations if guidelines and rules are not followed carefully. Being aware of and complying with OSHA guidelines when dealing with hazardous materials can significantly reduce risk of dangerous exposure, and protect a business or property owner from repercussions for non-compliance.
